Film Scripting

Once we finished our research we started developing our script. We had a group discussion about our pitch idea and how we it developing and each put forward points on setting and storyline's we can get into. One of the main points we discussed was on dialogue, whether we should have minor dialogue or none at all as in keep with a spooky storyline. We settled at this point to have just have the one word of dialogue which we will decide whether to put it in the production or not will be fully decided at that point.

We worked from our plot that we planned to expand the story and fill in the gaps. As our script laked in dialogue our script mainly consisted of storyline and stage directions. our script being a short film production consisted of six scenes in various settings from house, street, park and secluded forest.

However at a later date our storyline did change and the actors role was exspanded but we did not produce another script as there were still relatively similer.

Film Research

Our research was mainly based of viewing other short films and comparing them with our ideas. This also aimed to give us a basis on how to produce our film and observe some key aspects of filming such as criteria shots. We viewed a variety of shorts films to give us inspiration and guidance on popular Internet video sites such as http://www.youtube.com/ as well as previous student short films to give us a more closer comparison to which we can accomplish with the resources we have which was very helpful and illuminating. We also researched how short films differ o feature films and how them films are distributed through the Internet such as website like YouTube.

Other research that we pursued included music research which involved finding music that would suit the genre, target audience and storyline of our short film. To find that right music that we desired we we typed in key words that we be suitable to our film for instance run into a search engine for song lyrics which we found on the website http://lyrics.astraweb.com/ which we typed a variety of key words into the lyric search engine and found songs such as:

The Film Pitch

Our first stage of planning was to look over the aspects and criteria of our project. Here we first devised a planning checklist which first consisted of us as a group brainstorming different plot ideas for our short film. We opted to come up with three ideas each which added up to nine different plot ideas as we had three group members and through group discussion decided on the idea we have produced.

Next on our planning checklist we produced a pitch to improve on the structure of our plot and to identify our target audience and mould our short film idea accordingly. We created our working title to be very simplistic as it was only the working title not the final it was just for reference purposes. Our target audience was identified in our pitch as being from 15 - 25 years of age, no sex preference, class c in the social demographic and an adventurous lifestyle.

On our pitch we also decided how we would broadcast our short film and decided we should broadcast our film on websites similar to our target audience and our target audience needs i.e. what websites there interested in. we decided to broadcast on popular video clip sites such as YouTube where we based most of our research on.
